Job summary

This post sits within the Mechanical Transport (MT) Department of Blandford Garrison Support Unit. The department completes a wide range of functions, but the primary aim is to provide transport provision to the soldiers and staff of Blandford Garrison, including the trainees of 11 (RSS) Signal Regiment.

Blandford Garrison Support Unit sits within The Defence School of Communications and Information Systems (DSCIS) under the Defence College of Technical Training (DCTT), which is responsible for delivering all technical training across Defence to meet the operational demands of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the duties, hybrid / remote working is not supported.

Job description

The incumbent will be a key part of the MT team, supporting the Garrison by conducting driving details as required. Key duties include (but are not limited to):

Carrying out driving details as tasked. This will include liaising with customers to provide an efficient and professional service, planning routes as required and maintaining a high standard of driving throughout.
Ensuring vehicles are cleaned and maintained, reporting any issues to the Mechanical Transport Officer (MTO).
Maintaining accurate records of drivers’ hours paperwork.

Person specification

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work without supervision. You will have excellent verbal communication skills and will remain calm under pressure. You will also be in possession of Category B and D driving licences.
