Role Overview
To act as a senior nursing resource and interface to all wards, departments, consultants and general practitioners. You’ll be enabling the hospital to provide an efficient first point of contact in the provision of nursing care during day to day activities of the hospital whilst ensuring best use of nursing resources. As a Site Lead, you will be first point of contact for all hospital users and as such needs to provide a professional, confident and knowledgeable impression of our operational environment.
What you’ll do:
Maintain professional nursing standards in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work at all times within hospital policy and procedure.
Act as a co-ordinator to wards, departments, consultants, general practitioners and all client groups and ensure that information is properly communicated to those who require it.
Ensure efficient management of emergency admissions to meet the expectations of consultants, general practitioners, GP rapid access service and patients.
Liaise with Patients Services Manager and maintain full use of bed resources in a cost effective manner and take effective action to resolve bed shortage ensuring patient as nursed in appropriate speciality areas.
Understand implications of Integrated Governance and adhere to hospital governance policies including the reporting of incidences, near misses.
Manage the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey, and instil a culture of customer service throughout the team. Monitor effectiveness / success via patient satisfaction indicators, clinical incidents and complaints, participating in the reporting, investigating and actions to deliver improvements.
Ensure strong levels of nursing staff engagement, providing visible leadership and direction.
Participate in the learning and development of nursing teams.
Participate in the performance management of staff undertaking site management.
Ensure new and existing Consultants are compliant with expected clinical standards, raising concerns to the General Manager.
What you’ll bring:
First level registered nurse professional qualification
1st Degree or equivalent level of experience
Evidence of professional development
Must have a current ALS or EPALS certificate or willing to work towards in the first 6 months in post.
Demonstrate recent experience in senior nursing role.
Evidence of professional leadership and management
Multidisciplinary Team working.
Experience in clinical audit and benchmarking.
Experience of developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating training programmes.
Experience in the development of protocols to support best practice.
Experience in complaints management.
Demonstrable leadership skills
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal presentation skills
Negotiating and influencing skills
Strong analytical skills and ability to consider the wider picture
Computer literate with good knowledge of MS word, outlook and Excel.
Strong organisational and planning skills.
