I am applying for a role at The Works firstly because I am an avid reader and I love your shop! As you can see from my CV I attended Art College and have continued to be very creative throughout my life. I design and create crocheted items which I sell in a shop in Saltburn. I am very passionate about books, art, history and would love the opportunity to pass on this enthusiasm to customers visiting the shop. I am a great believe in excellent customer service and am friendly, helpful and approachable. Although I haven't work in a retail setting since I was young, my roles have always involved dealing with members of the public either by telephone, email or in person. I do everything I can to help someone with their queries and take pride in providing an excellent service.
I am experienced in working to deadlines and being able to prioritise my work efficiently and with a minimum of supervision. In carrying out tasks I am methodical and pay close attention to detail. I am able to prioritise my workload in order to meet specific deadlines, and constantly re-evaluate my work as it comes in in order to continue to meet deadlines.
In my time at Hambleton District Council I trained new staff in the office on how to use computer databases and filing systems that were in place and produced over 100 ‘idiot’s guide’ procedures to enable any new staff member to easily follow all the admin tasks required.
The various posts I had to cover when working for Temping Agencies enabled me to fit quickly into existing teams. I possess good interpersonal skills such as active listening and empathy and am able to relate well to different individuals within a team.
I am committed to working well, providing a good service and take pride in working to a high standard. I am self-motivated, reliable and approachable and thrive in a busy, challenging working environment.
I have had a career break in the last 2 years in which I have spent my time dog walking and as mentioned earlier, designing and creating crocheted items which I sell in Creations in Saltburn.
I am flexible with regard to working times and days and have my own transport. I am keen to work in a new environment and take on new challenges with enthusiasm and dedication. I believe i would be a great asset to your company.
