Skills

• A strength of mine is being good with teamwork. I have had to work as part of a team many times at the jobs I have done previously where most of the time it was essential for getting the job done effectively. I have also been completely capable at working individually as well. For example, in my previous job I was frequently cleaning the garage by myself. Tasks included sweeping and moping the floor, cleaning the walls and floor of the pit, using a pressure washer to clean bin wagons and disposing of all litter. A COSHH cupboard was used to store all cleaning chemicals.

• Something else I do well at is timekeeping. Some of my experience in this is working with deadlines at my previous job as a HGV Mechanic Apprentice. I worked on bin wagons that had to be out on the road everyday. So when one was in need of repair or maintenance, it usually could not be sat around in the garage for long. So getting the job done in a timely manner was of upmost importance. As a result I will have no issue keeping up to schedule.

• Something that may set me apart from my peers is my physical capability with doing strenuous tasks for long periods of time. I exercise and have experience with heavy lifting and physical tasks in general from both my previous job and gardening.

• Another strength of mine is versatility. When I was working as a gardener for a private gardening business I would frequently be completing jobs in one location (e.g. lawn mowing) and then moving into a completely new location where I would be told to do a different task (e.g. hedge cutting). In conclusion, I am well conditioned to fast paced, varied work.

• I have a 'B' Class driving license that is valid in the UK.

• I have learnt about COSHH, risk assessments and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 when I was at Keighley College doing NVQ Level 1 Motor Vehicle and Engineering Technologies. After working at the council I have covered Workplace Health and Safety practically.

• I have good literacy and numeracy skills, my proof of this is the fact I got a 5 in Maths and 6 in English. I have also had to fill in worksheets and reports as part of the motor vehicle course at Keighley College.

• I will be happy to take all necessary role specific training and/or courses.
