Job Overview
We are looking for fun creative person to join our small family business. We are an eco-florist with a passion for the environment and our impact on it. We have a heart for people and specialise in creating bespoke floral designs with the customer at the centre. The majority of the flowers we use are grown on our flower farm ready to be picked and arranged by you!
As an integral member of our team, you will be in full control of the funeral flowers and customer order side of our business giving you full creative freedom to express yourself. We believe personality is everything so the successful candidate will be someone who’s fun and passionate about what they do, as well as complementing our personalities.
Your Duties
- Answering the phone and taking customer orders
- Meeting with bereaved family to help plan funeral tributes for their loved one
- Creating a stem count and cutting list for customers orders and funerals
- Creating flower bouquets and funeral tributes using eco-friendly methods
- General maintenance and cleaning tasks
- Picking the flowers you wish to use from our flower farm
- Helping with the occasional wedding and market
- Helping with flower farm related jobs such as weeding, potting on and general flower farm maintenance.
The successful candidate must be:
- A good listener and confident advisor
- Able to work alone once confident
- Floristry experience is preferred, but not necessary, but you must be a creative thinker with an eye for colour
- Able to work outdoors in all weather, and fit enough to work on the flower farm
- Be able to drive to reach us
- Reliable
- Passionate about what they do while also working sustainably
- Be flexible with work hours as these will depend on the weather/ season
The successful candidate will be working for us as a freelance florist so you will have to be self-employed and invoice us fortnightly. The pay starts off at £13 an hour for the first 3 months of training, before increasing to £15 once trained.
The hours will be flexible depending on business needs/ the weather, with a minimum of 20 guaranteed hours each week (with the potential of more in our peak summer season) Working days for the flexible hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays with the occasional Saturday from March- December.
