We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Governance and Risk to join our leadership team at the Cromwell Hospital. The post holder will report to the Hospitals and Specialist Diagnostics Director.
The Director of Governance and Risk is accountable and visible professional responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring and management of clinical and non-clinical governance and risk management across the Cromwell Hospital and its associated outpatient centres and delivery sites (the business unit).
You will ensure comprehensive risk and governance management frameworks are in place throughout all aspects of clinical and non-clinical functions across the business units. The remit of this role is wide and will involve working closely with all members of the Cromwell Executive Team and the London Clinic Leadership Team.
How you’ll help us make health happen:
- Be responsible for working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business unit and wider organisation to ensure collaborative and approachable leadership across the Business Unit.
- Be accountable for the implementation and oversight of the organisations Risk Management Framework, ensuring risk is identified and managed in accordance with Bupa’s 3 line of defence model of risk management program.
- Act as the business unit for regulatory compliance ensuring relevant regulatory standards are identified, monitored and tracked to assure continued demonstrable compliance across all service delivery locations.
- Be accountable for ensuring clear systems of reporting, investigating and learning from adverse events are established and monitored across the organisation.
- Be responsible for the coordination, reporting and action planning against the organisation’s annual Internal Control Risk Management Assessment (ICRMA) Process.
- Own the Business Units Quality, Governance and Risk Management Frameworks and ensure that clear lines of accountability, communication, escalation are established, implemented and tested across all elements of governance and risk management.
What you’ll bring:
- Significant experience at Executive / Senior Management Team level of managing risk and governance frameworks within an acute healthcare setting; ideally hospital-based experience (essential).
- Capable of holding/challenging senior leaders for delivery.
- Educated to Degree Level or equivalent within an appropriate speciality area.
- Post graduate education or training within clinical governance or risk management.
- Significant knowledge and experience of managing regulatory frameworks and relationships within a healthcare setting.
- Cross functional leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and leverage a diverse team of people.
- Comprehensive knowledge of patient safety systems and processes including clinical risk and safety
- Demonstrable ability to assess and make effective decisions under pressure in complex situations.
- Proven ability to analyse complex problems at an organisational level and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them.
