A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen where we are looking to recruit an ACC Clinical Coder with enthusiasm and motivation to join our friendly and dedicated Team based in Cheadle, Manchester.
We offer a hybrid working pattern of 08:00AM - 16:00PM Monday - Friday.
We are looking for candidates who hold the National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC) and who have experience coding across a wide range of specialities.
You should have a sound knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, be able to demonstrate competency in the use of ICD10 and OPCS4 classifications, be proficient in the use of digital systems and have a thorough understanding of national clinical coding standards and conventions.
The successful candidate will contribute to the provision of a high quality clinical coding team supporting the business by ensuring accurate and timely translation and input of medical terminology, Senior Coders will support validation and data quality improvement work, act as a mentor and support trainee clinical coders and deal with complex coding queries when required.
The coding team are committed and enthusiastic, they code from scanned information and are part of a centralised team who monitor their own sites/worklists daily.
Duties of this role include
- To acquire and maintain comprehensive knowledge and skills in the identification and application of medical terminology and Anatomical and physiological terms for the efficient use of ICD-10 and OPCS 4 clinical coding.
- To locate missing data on the clinical coding discharge sheets by liaising with the specific leads in each department.
- To bring to the attention of the Clinical Coding Manager/Patient Administration Manager any problems encountered or any issues affecting Clinical Coding.
- To undertake training in order to maintain skills and master new coding conventions as appropriate.
- To develop coding and interpersonal skills by working closely with the departments to become an integral part of the team.
- To identify and action Data quality issues as appropriate .
- To ensure the Companies policy on confidentiality, including patient information is maintained at all times.
Applicants should meet the following criteria
- Qualification in Clinical coding at a minimum of NHS foundation level.
- Full understanding of OPCS, ICD-10 and HRG classification.
- Excellent understanding of the NHS and provision of secondary care essential.
- Experience in the private healthcare sector desirable.
