About the Role
AD Education UK is seeking to recruit two Mental Health Advisers to join the Student Wellbeing Team. One role is a 0.4 (2 day contract) based at the ICMP London Campus in Kilburn and the second role is a 0.8 (4 day contract) based at the SAE London Campus in Haggerston.
The Mental Health Adviser will primarily be responsible for providing expert advice, guidance and support, on an individual or group basis, to disabled students. They will manage a caseload of students with mental health conditions that impact on emotional wellbeing, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and autistic spectrum conditions. They will encourage and support students to apply for Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) and arrange access to support recommended in needs assessment reports.
The role holder will support the development, organisation, promotion and evaluation of the service and will implement changes under guidance from the Heads of Service where appropriate. The post holder is expected to keep up-to-date with developments across the sector and to identify good practices in supporting student need within an HE environment.
The successful candidate(s) will be experienced and committed higher education professionals, with a proven track-record of delivering high quality disability support in the area of mental health and ensuring complex cases are responded to and dealt with appropriately. They will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work in a proactive, independent manner and demonstrate resilience and empathy for students managing ongoing and complex difficulties.
