The Cromwell Hospital is a major private hospital in West London providing outpatient and Inpatient service. The hospital has 180 beds and 4 suites, 6 theatres, level 2 and 3 full intensive care facilities, paediatrics, diagnostic services, physiotherapy, a dedicated day surgery unit, and private GP services.
The pharmacy service is open on Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 8pm and Saturday from 9:00am to 2.30pm

The Pharmacy Oncology Department are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Pharmacy Assistant to support in the delivery of excellent hospital pharmacy aseptic services.
As the successful candidate, you will join our friendly team working within the Satellite pharmacy and Aseptic Unit situated on level 2 at the Cromwell Hospital, preparing chemotherapy and related treatments for patients.
We will provide a comprehensive in-house training programme during which you will learn all about our clean room environment and the many different procedures that we must maintain for the high standards of cleanliness and efficiency needed in our busy Aseptic Unit working under section 10 of the Medicines act 1968.
- Work as a member of the aseptic production team in delivering a safe, effective and efficient aseptic dispensing service in accordance with the SOPs of the unit.
- Perform daily/weekly/monthly environmental monitoring in the aseptic unit.
- Assemble ingredients for items to be prepared.
- According to worksheet and SOPs. Recording batch numbers and expiry dates, checking for any particle's discolouration or breakages.
- Produce labels and add charges for the medicines to be dispensed for patients.
- Conducting a sanitisation process on all drugs and equipment being passed into the cleanroom and critical work zones following departmental Standard Operating Procedures, using the specified sanitisation agents.
- Routinely compound Monoclonal Antibodies & Cytotoxic drugs, requiring developed skills e.g., accurate manipulation, speed and precision whilst measuring and checking volumes and ingredients.
- Monitor and record temperatures and aseptic unit pressures to ensure products are manufactured within a suitable environment
- Stock control duties including unpacking, stock takes and ordering of medicinal products and consumables.
- Generate chemotherapy worksheets and labels according to prescription.
- Dispensing and labelling of pharmaceutical products for patient use.
What you’ll bring:
- GSCEs in Science/Maths/English.
- NVQ2 in Pharmaceutical Practice. Desirable
- Experience working in a Pharmacy setting.
- Knowledge of COSHH & Health & Safety regulations.
- Understanding of the role Bupa plays in private healthcare and the organisational values associated with Bupa Cromwell.
- Aseptic experience (performing cytotoxic compounding & related tasks)
- Experience Dispensing medicines for patients.
- Understanding of the principles of GMP.
- Knowledge of cleanroom behaviours and ‘No-touch’ technique
- Knowledge of the sanitisation products used in Aseptic Pharmacy
- Experience of producing worksheets for chemotherapy manufacture
