The Data and Information Governance Manager will work closely with the Caldicott Guardian and Senior Information Risk Officer, Data Protection Officer and the Bupa UK Privacy and Data Teams to shape and deliver all aspects of the IG agenda. You shall ensure compliance with Information Governance, Security legislation, regulation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Be the primary point of contact on a day-to-day basis for all Information/Data Governance related issues arising within the hospital and supported delivery locations.
Work in collaboration with the wider Chief Data and Analytics Office, you will support the transformation of the Data and Analytics operating model in BGUK and enable the implementation of our new cloud-based data platform (Microsoft Azure and Snowflake) with trusted data.
Manage and oversee any required compliance submissions such as the HSCIC Information Governance Toolkit and to develop action plans to address areas requiring improvement.
Develop and implement data governance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and availability of customer data across our organisation.
Collaborate with various teams and stakeholders to establish best practices, define data governance standards, and drive data quality initiatives. Additionally, you will lead the efforts to maintain and improve our customer master data management processes, ensuring data consistency, reliability, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Provide expert, professional and pragmatic guidance and assistance regarding the identification, implementation and maintenance of information governance policies and procedures, and on all aspects of information management.
Support managers and operational teams in the completion of data protection impact assessments (DPIA’s), ensuring risks are identified and managed in accordance with the risk management framework.
Lead on the Data Retention Policy, co-ordinating the associated development and decision making to ensure it remains fit-for-purpose and aligned to organisational standards.
Key Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, or a related field.
Extensive experience of working within a healthcare business.
Excellent knowledge and extensive practical experience of the application of UK and EU Data Protections Laws, Directives and Regulations and proven ability to apply this knowledge.
Knowledge of privacy impact assessments together with risk management processes generally.
Expertise in and ability to apply the principles of project and change management.
Proven experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles, preferably with a focus on customer master data.
Proven experience with managing Master Data Processes in an organisation and managing bulk cleansing of Master Data in complex systems.
In-depth knowledge of customer data management concepts, including data modelling, data integration, and data quality management.
Familiarity with data governance tools, data cataloguing tools, and customer master data management systems as well as industry-standard data governance and data quality frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DMBOK).
